Esme O'Brien Hammond, long a prominent member of New York society, and lived in Manhattan. Mrs. Hammond was active in the Junior League and was, for 35 years, a member of the board of the Hewitt School, from which she graduated. She was the wife of John Hammond, the record producer and a former vice president of Columbia Records. An earlier marriage to Robert W. Sarnoff, a former chairman of NBC and the RCA Corporation, ended in divorce. They had a daughter, Rosita Sarnoff.
