A year after her stint on Miss Universe, Silayan's acting career began and she became one of the most popular and acclaimed actresses in the Philippines. She was the daughter of theatre and movie actor Vic Silayan and the aunt of Victor Silayan.

The Movie Part Two (1997), Esperanza-The Movie (1999), Kung Ako Na Lang Sana (2003) and My First Romance (2003).
She also appeared in numerous television shows: Esperanza (1997-1999), The 700 Club Asia (as the show's host), Student Canteen, Swerte sa Siete and Maalaala Mo Kaya.
Retiring from acting in 2003, Silayan became active in church activities and worked as a part-time announcer and host for the 700 Club Asia.
She passed away on April 23, 2006 at age 46 following a battle with colon cancer. Survived by her husband, Michael Bailon and three children: Victor Margheriti, Timothy Bailon and Micaela Bailon.
