Ann Adams, of Tahoka, Texas walked into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on August 28, 2017. After 94 years of serving His kingdom on earth, she enters her eternal home, joining her loving husband Lester Daniel Adams, her parents D.C. "Colonel" Roberts and Ola Curry Roberts, her brothers Loyd, D.C and Eldon, and her sister Vada Gollehon.

Ann was born in Post, Texas on February 1, 1923. The fourth of the five children, she recalled her childhood in the fondest of terms, despite growing up in the Great Depression. She recounted the days spent working in the fields, playing with her siblings, and learning many games she continued to play all her life. She was a coveted partner in "80", the official family domino game, where age never seemed to affect her desire to sit at the domino table. An annual highlight for Ann was the Roberts Family Reunion, in which she played the role of family matriarch and star domino player.

After Ann graduated Tahoka High School in 1940, she attended West Texas State Teachers College. On December 26, 1942 Ann married the love of her life, Lester Daniel Adams. After he returned from serving in World War II, they spent the early years of their marriage in Bryan/College Station, where both Ann and Lester worked at the Bryan Air Force Base and Lester attended classes at his beloved Texas A&M. Lester graduated in 1953 and they moved back to Tahoka. Ann went on to earn a Maste's Degree in Counseling from Texas Tech University. She served the community of Tahoka as a home economics teacher and diagnostician for 30 years. Ann and Lester were instrumental in the 4H Club and FFA and they supported the youth in Tahoka throughout her career and into retirement. She touched the lives of countless students, fellow teachers and staff. In retirement, she and Lester enjoyed many wonderful years with their grandchildren and remained active in the community along with the First Baptist Church where she was a member most of her life. Lester was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 1999, the disease that would eventually take his life. Ann was a faithful caregiver and devoted partner. She credited her strength during those years to her support group, the Forget-Me-Nots. She developed deep friendships with many in the group and remained close even after the loss of Lester.

Galatians 5:22 tells us that the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. All who knew Ann witnessed her bearing these fruits as a devoted daughter of God. Ann laid a foundation of love and faith for her family and friends that will abound and continue to grow because of the roots she so dearly nurtured.

She is survived by her son Phillip David Adams of Bryan, two daughters, Lexi Ann Midkiff and husband David of Lubbock, Jana Kennedy and husband, Randy of Panhandle; five grandchildren- Jason Kennedy and wife Mandee of San Angelo, Ann-Marie Boldrick and husband Ryan of Dripping Springs, Jared Kennedy and wife Lana of Aledo, Ashley Smith and husband Peter of Lubbock, and Joerdan Kennedy and wife Heather of Fort Worth, and 13 great grandchildren.

Nothing brought more Joy to Ann's life than family and friends. A visitation will be held Thursday August 31, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Combest Family Funeral Homes. The family invites all to join them in a celebration of her life on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Southcrest Baptist Church with interment to follow at Terrace Cemetery in Post, Texas with Pallbearers, Jason Kennedy, Jared Kennedy, Joerdan Kennedy, Peter Smith, Ryan Boldrick and Kyle Beebe; and Honorary Pallbearers, Forget-Me-Nots.
