James Avery "Jimmy" Woods, 20, of Blountstown, FL passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010 in Gainesville, FL. Jimmy lived his life with Cystic Fibrosis. Growing up with a terminal illness, Jimmy was always the bright light when he entered any room. God blessed Jimmy with a double lung transplant in August 2009. After a miraculous recovery, Jimmy went out to do activities his health had prevented him from dong in more than 6 years. Jimmy suffered complications from the transplant and passed away gently into the Hands of God. He was born March 11, 1989 in Panama City and graduated from A. Crawford Mosley High School in 2007 and was a member of Southport First Assembly of God. When his health allowed he was very active with Inner-Action Student Ministries at Southport First Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Melvin and Jessie Avery. He is survived by his mother, Carol Gay Reed and husband, James of Chipley, FL; father, James A. Woods of Blountstown, FL; paternal grandparents, Charles and Ima Jean Woods of Southport, FL; a brother, Justin Alexander Woods of Blountstown, FL; a sister, Cassandra Jean Woods of Blountstown, FL; an aunt, Kira Higginbotham and husband, Bill of Bozier City, LA. Funeral services will be held, 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 29, 2010 at Southport First Assembly of God with Rev. James Guy, Rev. Nixon Riley, Rev. Joe Sellars and Rev. David Goodman officiating with interment to follow in New Southport Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Blountstown and Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Southerland Family Funeral Home in Panama City, FL.
