Yukon, a gray with yellow feathers Cockatiel, was born at 2249 N.E. 46th Street, on the north side of 45th, across the street from the University of Washington campus. Her parents were the pets of my best friend from my University of Washington college days.

Yukon was a very loving and intelligent companion. She enjoyed taking showers with me...stretching open her wings and twisting into different positions to catch the failing water. She loved eating hamburger and popcorn. When she wanted me to wake-up in the morning she would put her beak in my ear and chirp softly...unless I didn't move then she'd chirp loudly. On cold mornings she would get under the blankets and sleep next to my chest. When she wanted a drink of water in the kitchen she would walk down the center divider between the two double kitchen sinks and wait for me to turn on the faucet so she could drink from the running water. Yukon died in my hands during the afternoon of May 20th. She is greatly missed.
