He was the son of the late W. G. and Mary Lillie (Thurston) Acrey.
He is survived by: three sons, Keith Acrey, David Acrey, and Chuck Acrey; three daughters, Joyce Hicks, Patsy Gregory, and Judy Ledbetter; 18 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, W. G. and Mary Acrey, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Mary Helen Acrey; three brothers, Dock Coolidge Acrey, Roba Acrey, and Wendell Acrey; one sister, Iza Denney; one grandchild; one great grandchild; and two great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 28, 2017 after 5 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 10 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will be in the Choate Cemetery."
