Paul Ogles, age 61, of Fairfield Plantation, passed away on August 19, 2017. He was diagnosed with Stage IV cholangiocarcinoma in March. He is survived by his loving family, Kelly, his wife of 34 years, and his two sons David (Chicago) and Matthew (Atlanta). Paul was born in Seattle, Washington the youngest of six siblings. He is survived by older brothers Alan (Karen) of Magnolia, TX: Daniel (Gail) of Woodstock, GA; Mark (Diana) of Stone Mountain, GA and older sisters Mary (Hal) of Ontario, OR and Jeannie Scavo of Sandy, UT as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Paul was a US Navy veteran serving with VP-19 as an antisubmarine warfare operator. While stationed at NAS Moffett Field, CA, Paul saw deployments to Alaska, Korea, Japan, Diego Garcia, Philippines and Oman. He was awarded the Sea Service ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Navy Expeditionary Medal. After his Navy enlistment he graduated college from San Jose City College with a degree in Laser Engineering. He spent 15 years working in the medical laser industry specifically with copper and gold vapor lasers. His last job in the laser field was Director of the Laser Center at Houston Sports Medicine Hospital in Columbus, GA. Paul changed careers allowing him to be home with his family and spent another two decades teaching the Industrial Electronics Degree program at West Georgia Technical College where he also served as the chair for the Trade and Technology department. Paul retired from WGTC in July 2016.
He is preceded in death by his parents Daniel and June Ogles and mother-in-law Marcia Cross.
A family graveside burial service will be held at Georgia National Military Cemetery in Canton, GA on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 10:30 AM.
