Sergeant Allen Levi Stigler, Jr., was born July 21, 1995 in Arlington, Texas to Allen Levi Stigler, Sr. and Hope Ellington. He confessed Christ at an early age at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas, and was baptized on February 3, 2008.

He graduated from Mansfield Timberview High School in June of 2013 and enlisted in the United States Army in November of that that same year. He completed boot camp/training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

He was assigned the 2nd battalion, 319 Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. AJ, as he was affectionately called, was a loyal and courageous Soldier. He served in South Korea from May 2014 to June 2015. His first combat deployment was to Iraq, where he was actively serving at the time of his transition.

While serving he received the following awards: Army Commendation Medal with “C” Device, the National Defense Service Medal, the Overseas Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star and the Parachutist Badge, also being promoted to Sergeant. He also received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal and Combat Action Badge, posthumously.

He loved spending time with his family and friends. AJ also loved playing basketball and working out.

On Sunday, the Thirteenth of August, Two Thousand Seventeen, Sergeant Allen Levi Stigler, Jr. transitioned from time into eternity.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Hope Ellington; great-grandfather Sergeant Major Stellivan Sherrod; great-grandmother, Eva Britt; grandfather, Bennie Stigler; aunts, Gloria Stigler and Bennie Polite and uncle, Miker Stigler. Left to mourn his passing are: his father and step-mother, four sisters, great-grandmother, 2 grandmothers, 3 step-siblings, 7 nephews and nieces, and a host of other friends and relatives.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — The Department of Defense announced Monday the deaths of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.
They died Sunday of wounds sustained while in combat operations in Iraq.

Both soldiers were assigned to 2nd Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

The two soldiers killed were identified as Sgt. Roshain Euvince Brooks, 30, of Brooklyn, New York, and Spc. Allen Levi Stigler Jr., 22, of Arlington, Texas.

No other details were immediately available.
The incident remains under investigation, the DOD said.
