Edward Lee Alcorns, Jr.

70, of rural Attica, passed away at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11:09 a.m.

Ed was born in Cleveland, OH on January 25, 1947. He was the son of the late Edward Lee and Esther Eileen (Moriarty) Alcorns. Ed grew up in Ocala, FL and later moved to Indiana in 1977. He has resided in rural Attica for the past 10 years.

Ed was an independent over-the-road truck driver. Following his retirement from Alcorns' Trucking he began hauling grain for Chuck Shelby.

Ed served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. At the time of his honorable discharge, Ed had attained the rank of Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class.

Ed was a life member and past commander of the V.F.W. Post # 3318 of Attica; member of the Moose Lodge # 1482 of Attica. He enjoyed tinkering with his 1939 Plymouth street rod. He was a NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was Martin Truex, Jr. He enjoyed watching professional wrestling and western movies. Ed was especially fond of spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On May 30, 1984, Ed married Joan I. Bray in Shadeland, IN.

Ed leaves behind his wife, Joan of 33 years; a daughter, Tammy Easterling, Clearwater, FL; a son, Andrew (Rachel) Alcorns, Delphi, IN; two step sons, Michael Floyd (Shellie) Marks and Jeffrey Allen (Karen) Marks, both of Lafayette; a step-daughter, Lisa Jo (Ronald "Butch") Hunter, Attica; three brothers, Joe Alcorns, Michigan; Donnie (Polly) Alcorns, Morristown, TN and Ronnie (Joan) Alcorns, Washington; a sister, Joyce DiMitro, Clarksville, TN; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carl Alcorns.
