Florence Mae was the daughter of Phebe & Columbus Waybright. Her family suffered a great tragedy when they moved from West Virginia to Kansas, and Phebe and the children returned to West Virginia a widow and fatherless respectively. Phebe found a home for herself and the girls with Snyder relatives. Phebe remarried and the girls each found husbands.

Florence first marriage to Seymour Snyder was short-lived, and Seymour eventually moved west and formed a large family there. She then married Dr. Noah Judy and had two children, Viva and C. Rudy Judy. This marriage proved difficult as the good doctor had some problems of his own.

Florence then married Abraham Speck, who apparently was already married. The lawsuit was a public scandal but the marriage yielded another daughter with many descendants, Martha Regina Speck.

Finally, Florence found solace with William Schumacher, about which little is known. She traveled and visited her sisters throughout the region and her daughters as far away as Los Angeles. She lived her remaining days with her daughter Viva in Pittsburgh.

Florence was a resilient woman in a time when options for women were limited. She survived several tragedies and heartbreaking losses. Her legacy lives on through her many descendants.
