Florence was born on January 22, 1877 to Edward W. Hall and Eliza A. Nichols in Brookfield, Massachusetts. [1] Her father, a carpenter, was born in Oakham, Massachusetts, and her mother was born in Brookfield, Massachusetts, both within Worchester County.

At age 21, she married Joseph Dexter Beals, a 22-year-old man born to Joseph Beals and Martha A. Rogers Beals. [2] Her full name by the time she married Joseph D. Beals was Florence Lena Halls Pratt. This means she had married someone with the surname of Pratt before Joseph D. Beals.

In 1900 Florence is living in Goshen Town in the household of the father of her husband, Joseph, her father-in-law and his second wife, Hattie. Also living in the house is Edith P Hammond (daughter of Hattie from first marriage), a servant, and two Packards. [3]

By 1910, Florence is living with Joseph in Goshen, with a son-in-law, and others. The son-in-law (son of Florence from a previous marriage) is Horace N Pratt (age 14), with the sons being: Joseph Luther Beals (age 8) (later just called Luther) [does not have a Find A Grave yet], Edward Dexter Beals (age 5) (later just called "Dexter") [#114017334], and Robert R Beals (born that year) [#52794397]. [4]

By 12 Sep 1918, Florence and Joseph were living in Lee City no 3, Massachusetts, with Joseph as a farmer. [5]

By 1920 Joseph and Florence are living in Goshen with their four sons. The four sons are: Luther (age 17), Dexter (age 15), Robert (age 10), and Vernon (born that year). [does not have a Find A Grave currently] [6]

In 1930 Florence and Joseph are still living in Goshen. Also living with them are their sons Robert (age 20) and Vernon (age 10). [7]

By 1940, Florence was dead. This is clear because the 1940 census shows Joseph living in Goshen Town and widowed. He is living with his sons Edward (age 35) and Robert R. (age 30) and daughter Cordie (incorrectly noted by census enumerator. Her name is actually Gordie) [#123372602] (age 33), along with varied grandchildren. [8] He would die not long afterward. On 29 Jul 1941 he died in Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts, as also asserted in the Massachusetts Death Index. [9]

As for Florence, since she does not currently have another memorial page on Find A Grave, this one is a good addition. [10]
