Sultan Qutbuddin Aibak (1150-1210) was sultan/king and founder of the famous Mamluk/Slave Dynasty that ruled over a large chunk of South Asia. He made the famous 'Qutub Minar' minaret in Delhi, India. He died tragically while playing his favorite sport of 'Chovghan' (Polo) . when he had a fall from his horse and broke his neck. He is buried in a small mausoleum at the old Anarkali Bazaar (market) close to the Badshahi Mosque complex.
