George Edward Acker, prominent Canning resident and barber for the past 35 years, died at the Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital, Kentville, following a heart attack Sunday, October 13th, 1963.

Born in Springfield 62 years ago, he was the son of William and Naomi (Woodworth) Acker. After completing his schooling at Hunter's Lodge, he moved to Nictaux where he was engaged in farming before taking up residence in Canning. Mr. Acker was a former member of the Canning I.O.O.F. Lodge and Glooscap Rebekah Lodge and a member of St. Michael and His Angels Anglican Church, Canning.

Surviving besides his wife, the former Lillian Burns, are one son, Murray, Kentville; two grandchildren; one sister, Bertha (Mrs. James Moreau), Mill Village, Queens County; four brothers, Obediah, Springfield; Ferdinand and Lloyd, both of Wilmot; and Louis, Portland, Maine. A brother, Fred of Caledonia predeceased him in 1961.

Funeral service was held from the Anglican Church, Thursday afternoon with interment in the family lot at Church Street.
