Joseph John Santamarina passed away peacefully on July 21, 2017 at the age of 86. He was born on September 25, 1930 in Yonkers, N.Y. to the late James and Catherine Santamarina and sisters Catherine and Laura.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife Estelle of 65 years, daughter Debbie (Larry) Bennett of West Nyack, NY, and son Jim (Sue) Santamarina of Clifton Park, NY.

He is survived by his grandchildren Paul (Cristina) Remenar, Steven Remenar, Joe (Jennifer), James Santamarina and Christopher Marsh. He also leaves behind his great-granddaughters Ivana and Maya, and sister-in-law Arlene (Gery) Grabowski of Costa Rica. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph graduated from Yonkers Central School (Yonkers, NY) and was a sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed as a police officer in Yonkers, NY, for 20 years, and owned a construction business. After his retirement, he worked at the Jewish Community Center.

Visiting hours will be held at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home in West Nyack, N.Y. from 2 pm - 4 pm and 7 pm - 9 pm. The funeral mass will be at 10:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Yonkers, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Renal Care of Rockland.
