Dan was a graduate of Gov. Clinton School and served in the U. S. Navy. On June 14, 1958 Dan married Helen I. Dorrer at St. Peter's Church and she survives him at home. He had worked for Howell Brothers and M. Schwartz.
Daniel was a member of Rochdale Station #4, American Legion #1302, the American Red Cross and was a 20 year member of Roosevelt Station #1.
He was one of the first CPR Instructors in Dutchess County, loved genealogy and never missed the USS McGowan reunion every year.
In addition to his wife, Helen, Dan is survived by his son Peter J. Dugan of Reading, PA, daughter and son-in-law Catherine Louise and Sayed Elmarzouky of Reading, PA and daughter and son-in-law Theresa and Dennis Kennedy of Marietta, GA. Also surviving are his 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and his brother Eugene "Doc" Dugan of New Mexico. He was predeceased by Dominic Piludu, his great-grandson.
Calling hours will be held on Friday July 28, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Saturday July 29, 2017 at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish and burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the whole staff of the Pines of Poughkeepsie and Mid Hudson Regional Hospital for all the care and compassion that was shown to Dan on his final days here on Earth. A special thanks to Rebecca in ICU.
