A memorial service for William E. Crawford , 84, a Carson City resident for the past 30 years, will be at 1 p.m. Sept. 10 at 1019 Valley View Drive, Carson City. Mr. Crawford died Aug. 26, 2005, at Carson Convalescent Center. He was born Nov. 29, 1920, in Nebraska City, Neb., to Thomas and Augusta Bennett Crawford. He was a high school graduate. He married Lucy Ann Crawford at the Reno Courthouse in 1956. He was a retired drywall contractor. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors and traveling. Mr. Crawford served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific on Guadalcanal in the 1st Marine Division. He was preceded in death by his sister, Francis. Among his survivors are his wife; son Ron, Bowman; grandson Eric Bowman; and nieces and nephews Barbara Lee Parker, Joyce Ann Lane, Donna Garett and Billie and Donnie Melton. Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory. Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
