She was educated as Walter Sr. After attending Erasmus Hall High School, studying English, Math, History (Ancient, English and American), Physics, Latin and French, she majored in the latter two. While she got "Cs in all her subject" as noted by Mona, she graduated high school, in 1907, and enrolled at Smith College. Once there, she studied Chemistry, Philosophy, and Mathematics. She graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in 1911. While she went to school she was living with her father at 496 Fifth Street, Brooklyn, NY, who was a "coal and wood dealer" like his father.
She later married Walter A. Schaefer. She was buried in the same plot as her son, Walter.
