Actor. Landau was an award-winning actor who appeared in nearly 200 films and TV shows during his prolific career. He worked as a cartoonist before starting his acting career in the 1950s. His big break came in 1966, when he was cast as Rollin Hand in the "Mission: Impossible" TV series alongside his then-wife, Barbara Bain. The role got him repeatedly nominated for Emmy Awards and earned him the Golden Globe Award for Best Male TV Star in 1968. He played the main role as Commander John Koenig, in the TV series "Space 1999," from 1975 to 1977. He appeared on dozens of TV shows, among them: "Lawman," "The Twilight Zone," "Tales of Wells Fargo," "The Islanders," "Wagon Train," "The Outer Limits," "The Big Valley," "Get Smart," "Columbo," "Without a Trace" and "Entourage." Among his films were: "North by Northwest" (1959), "Cleopatra" (1963), "The Greatest Story Ever Told" (1965), "They Call Me Mister Tibbs!" (1970), "Without Warning" (1980), "Terror in the Aisles" (1984), "Delta Fever" (1987), "Tucker: The Man and His Dream" (1988, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor), "Crimes and Misdemeanors" (1989, a second Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor), "No Place to Hide" (1993), "Ed Wood" (1994, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Bela Lugosi), "Rounders" (1998), "Sleepy Hollow" (1999), "The Majestic" (2001), "Hollywood Homicide" (2003), "Wake" (2003), "City of Ember" (2008), "9" (2009), "Frankenweenie" (2012), "Entourage" (2015) and "Remember" (2015).
