Wilbur Donald Troyer entered God's Heavenly Kingdom on July 1, 2017. He was born February 22, 1924 in the home of Samuel J. and Iva (Miller) Troyer near Jet, Oklahoma. He was twin to Wilma (Troyer) Mast, second to the youngest of four children. Wilbur was a caring, fun loving, and hard working man with a sweet sense of humor. He loved God, his family, care-givers, farming, working with his hands, reading, and visiting with relatives and anyone he encountered in life. Everywhere he went, he made a friend.

In 1930, Wilbur (6 years old) moved with his parents from Jet, Oklahoma to a farm west of Harper, Kansas. He went to a one room country school 3/4 miles west of his home called Nebo School. He went there all 8 years and graduated. He attended High School at Harper High where he participated and lettered in track events and graduated. Wilbur did farm work, helped to build houses, and sheared sheep for area ranchers.

On August 1, 1948, he married Eunice Marie Eck at Zoar Mennonite Church in Goltry, Oklahoma. They started their life together living in a rented farmhouse north and west of Harper, Kansas. He and Eunice had five children together. They purchased land northwest of Harper and built a dairy. Wilbur farmed, sheared sheep, operated his own dairy, raised mink for a couple years, drove the school bus for Grandview Grade School, served on various church committees at Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church, helped to build several houses, and mentored teenage boys. Later in life he attended the Nazarene Church in Anthony. Other places that he has worked include Farm and Dairy Supervisor at Markoma Bible Academy in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Celco in Anthony doing electro-polishing, Farrar Corp of Norwich, and Plumb Thicket Landfill at Harper.

Wilbur and Eunice had five children together: Ardonna Rae, who died shortly after birth, Gail Evonne, Samuel Joel, Susan Elizabeth, and Connie Lou. All are married and have children and grandchildren.

After retiring from Plumb Thicket Landfill, Wilbur moved to Anthony where he lived on Steadman Street for 5 years. Then he moved to Country Living where he spent the remainder of his life doing woodworking projects, and pulling ornery jokes on caregivers.

Wilbur was preceded in death by his father and mother, Samuel J. and Iva (Miller) Troyer; older brother, Mervin; twin sister, Wilma Mast; wife, Eunice; and daughter, Ardonna Rae.

He leaves to celebrate his life his children: Gail and husband, Dennis Murphy of Crystal Springs, Samuel Troyer and wife, Connie of Harper; Susan and husband, Jay Fieser of Norwich, and Connie and husband, Bob Bishop of Wichita. Also celebrating his life are his sister, Maurine Zimmerman of Harper, 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; care-givers; many friends and family.

The family will be holding a public Celebration of Life on July 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Nazarene Church in Anthony with Pastor Jim Anderson officiating. Wilbur will be laid to rest at the Pleasant Valley Mennonite Cemetery by Harper beside his wife Eunice.
