Aarons, Gerald 84, of Tampa died June 19, 2017. Mr. Aarons was born in The Bronx, New York, and grew up in Newark, New Jersey. He served in the United States Armed Forces from 1952 to 1954, based in New Jersey, and Germany. After the Army, he joined the United States Postal Service where he worked first in New Jersey, and then in Beverly Hills, where he became a supervisor of the Beverly Hills Post Office. After he retired, he moved to Tampa, Florida to live near his son, Lawrence Aarons, and he married his second wife, Isabel E. Aarons.

Although he lived in Tampa, he had a strong connection to the State of Israel, where members of his family live and have lived, and was actively involved in charitable work at Congregation Kol Ami where he volunteered for security and as an usher, and he was the Commander with the local chapter of the Jewish War Veterans.

Jerry was a devoted family man, avid baseball fan, and golfer. He was very active. Survivors include his beloved wife of over 23 years, Isabel, his sister Selma, daughter Stacey Aarons and son, Todd Aarons (and his wife Nava), daughter-in-law Elanit Aarons, granddaughters, Ariel, Aviya, Yael and Danielle, and grandsons Adam, Adev, Erez and Itai.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 21, 10:00 AM at Congregation Kol Ami, 3919 Moran Road, Tampa. Interment will follow at Gan Shalom Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tampa Chapter (373) of the Jewish War Veterans of America, or another local chapter of your choice.
