Otha was the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Ollie Lula Huggins Tallant. She was a sister to: Hettie Mae, Riley Burton, Chester Vernon, Glenn Ollie Delilah, Alma Christine, Nota Alene, Duane Elmore, Wendell Jefferson and Wanda Lee.
She married Guy Lee Smith on 9 May 1931 in Nashville, Howard County, Arkansas. They had two Children: Bobby Lee and Emily Ann. Otha was an artist and painted some very good paintings.
Otha died in a hospital in Springfield, Missouri and was brought home to Howard County to be buried. She requested that she be cremated, so her ashes are buried at the base of her husbands headstone.
