Louise Simpson, age 88, of Troy, died March 19, 2014, at The Fountains of Troy in Troy, IL.
She was born Sept. 26, 1925, in Equality, IL, the daughter of the late Henry George Rexing and Florence Jean (nee Wargel).
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Edwardsville, IL, and the Pin Oak Senior Citizens. Louise retired from Seibold's Bakery in Edwardsville, IL. She loved quilting, cooking and most all crafts and craft fairs.
She is survived by her husband: Melvin Simpson of Troy, IL whom she married on July 15, 1946 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Equality, IL; one son: Louis (Karen) Simpson of Edwardsville, IL; one daughter: Ruth Berner of Bethalto, IL; grandchildren Lori Simpson, Kirk (Sara) Simpson, Lindsey (Dave) Brown, Melissa (Craig) Edwards, Jamie (Brad) Jobe and Michelle (Kyle) Stumpf; five great-grandchildren: brothers; Louis Rexing of Herod, IL, Norman (Rosemary) Rexing of Bethalto, IL and a sister: Sister; Regina Collins of Eldorado, IL
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson: Kevin Simpson and a son-in-law: Michael Berner.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, IL, with Fr. Pat Jakel officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, March 21, 2014, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Richeson Funeral Home and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 am Saturday at St. Jerome Catholic Church.
Interment will be in Friedens Cemetery, Troy, IL.
