Penny Niemann Conner, 54, of Meridian died on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007 at home surrounded by her family. Graveside Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at the Meridian Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian. Penny Sue was the New Years Baby born at St. Luke´s Hospital on January 4, 1953, the eldest daughter of Jack and LaWana Niemann. She was raised in Meridian and graduated from Meridian High in 1971. She lived several places over the years but always considered Meridian her home. She started a wonderful new life when she married her life-long friend Tony Conner on January 1, 1997. Her treasure in life was her daughter Kristin. She experienced the greatest joy last summer with Kristin's marriage to Dan Taylor. Penny loved her family and was happiest surrounded by them. She was generous and fun with her friends and was admired for her sense of style and accessorizing. She worked for Ada County for many years and loved her job in the Elections Department. She was an avid reader, crossword junkie and collector of all things watermelon. Penny showed great courage, determination and kept her quick wit and sense of style throughout her year-long battle with cancer. She was always the life of the party and we will miss her enthusiasm and humor. She leaves a large void in our family and our lives. The family wishes to thank the staff at MSTIs Meridian clinic and Horizon Hospice for their encouragement, love and compassion, and for all the prayers and well-wishes from friends and co-workers. Penny is survived by her spouse, Anthony Conner of Meridian, daughter, Kristin (Webb) Taylor and Dan of Kent, Wash., mother, LaWana White Niemann of Meridian, sisters, Pamela Geile and Randy of Meridian, Paula Riggs and Kelly of Glenns Ferry, nieces and nephews, Bob, Mike and John Geile, Taylor and Jack Riggs, step-son, Brandon and Angel Conner of Fernley, Nev., three step-grandchildren, Mikayla, Sly and Heaven, aunts and uncles; Vaniece and Keith Shorey, Jim Niemann, Joanne Wood and Gail Andrews, and numerous cousins. Penny was preceded in death by her father John H Jack Niemann. The family requests no flowers, but suggests memorials may be made to the Meridian Library, 1326 W. Cherry Lane, Meridian, Idaho 83642.
