Mother died at the age of 63 years, 5 months, 23 days. She was in the hospital at the time of her death and had suffered from a reoccurence and spreading of her breast cancer. All of her children were able to be by her side prior to her death.

Caroline Hoffecker Bullen was born in St. Georges, near the Village of McDonough, Delaware. She was the second eldest of six surviving children born to Hyland Price Bullen and Mary Elizabeth(McCrone) Bullen. Caroline attended Middletown High School and was a member of the basketball and field hockey teams. She was also president of the Choral Club, member of the Civics I Club, and vice-president of the Stenos of '39. She was also active in drama, playing the character, Pamela Marsh, in the Senior Play, "Aunt Tillie Goes to Town". Described as "Most Versatile Girl" and also, "Brightest Senior", and finally, based on the marks in grades, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th, she was named valedictorian of the Class of 1938.

On January 22, 1942 Caroline Bullen married John Robert Lackie at Trinity Church in Wilmington, DE. March 16, 1942 -Mrs. Lackie (formally Miss Bullen) left the employ of "Group Hospital Service", Wilmington, DE.

Caroline Lackie was married to John R. Lackie for thirty-nine years at the time of his death in 1981. She is survived by children Patricia (Lackie)Whitney-Jones, William R. Lackie, Jon D. Lackie, Kevin L. Lackie,Linda L. (Lackie) Kruemmer and at the time of her death, grandmother to six.
