Elizabeth Ann Isenberg Helfgott (Debbie), 75, passed away at home on Monday, June 12, 2017. She was born July 22, 1941 to Ruth Elizabeth Dyer and Onno Frederick Isenberg in Davenport, Iowa. During her life, she was a nurse, folk singer, restaurant owner, river cruise boat chef, and government student loan data processing team leader among other varied and challenging enterprises. Her passions were genealogy, gardening, history and she loved being generous to anyone. She is predeceased by husband, Edwin J. Helfgott; her parents, Ruth Elizabeth Rieger and Onno Frederick Isenberg, and granddaughters, Phoebe Anne Hatfield and Gabriella Jackson.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Cherrie L. Foley (Ken) of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Kathlene M. Hatfield (Jerry) of Austin and Kevin P. Helfgott of Chattahoochee, Florida. She had two other children by marriage, Hans E. Helfgott and Veronique A. Arrowood. She is also survived by her siblings, Nancy P. (Lawrence) Huber of Solon, Iowa, Carol A. (Todd) Pope of Cortland, Illinois and Steven O. (Dawn) Isenberg of Mosinee, Wisconsin; her cherished grandchildren, Joshua N. Brown, K. Beaumont Brown, J. Daniel Hatfield, Christopher J. Hatfield, Erana J. Kull, Guy D. Helfgott, Myles K. Helfgott, Angel M. Williams and many others she considered grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other loved ones.
She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and previous coworkers alike.
There will be a private family memorial burial at 16th Section Cemetery in Austin.
