Ellsworth Lee Atwood, 61, 4583 Anderson Road, Blaine, a Whatcom County resident since 1968, died Monday at a local hospital.

He was born in Beaver City, Neb and was retired from the Whatcom County engineer's office. He had served 23 years in the Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Blaine American Legion and the Bellingham VFW.

He is survived by his wife, Nora, one son, two daughters, two sisters and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm Friday at Jerns-McKinney Funeral Chapel in Blaine. The Rev. Don Walter will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillsdale Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Birch Bay Aid Unit. Jerns-McKinney Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
