Death of Henry Joseph Brockschmidt

Henry Joseph Brockschmidt died at his home, 730 Hampshire street, at 12:30 P.M. yesterday, of heart failure.
Deceased was born in Hanover Germany March 14 1833. He came to America in 1851.
He was a member of St. Aloysius Orphan Society. He was unmarried, and leaves a brother, John H. Brockschmidt, with whom he was engaged in the hat and cap business for over thirty-six years, the firm now being located at 644 Maine street.
He also leaves two nephews: Alfred J. Brockschmit the attorney; and Frank J. Brockschmidt of the Menke Dry Goods company; and two nieces: Miss O. M. Brockschmidt, and Mrs. Louise P. Dittmeyer, all of this city.
He was actively engaged in business without interruption from 1860 to the day of his death. He was honorable in all his business transactions, and was strictly honest in his dealings. He was greatly admired by his friends and acquaintances, whom he counted by the thousands.
He was a devout Catholic, and a zealous member of the St. Boniface church. He was always charitable to the poor, and had ever a warm and feeling heart for those in need and distress, and was ever willing to relieve misery and distress wherever he found it, and whenever he could.
But above all, he was most kind and affectionate to his immediate relatives in whose home he resided.

The remains of the late H. J. Brockschmidt were laid to rest in St. Boniface cemetery Saturday forenoon, after services, largely attended, at St. Boniface church.
