Cheryl N. Lepisto passed away Feb. 23, 2017, at her home. She was born May 11, 1944, in Lincoln County, the daughter of Arthur W. and Lola Spear Howell. She graduated from Lincoln High School and earned her Bachelor of Science from Kansas State University. On June 5, 1965, she married James (Jim) Lepisto. The couple spent their married life in the Johnson County, Kansas area. Cheryl was an avid gardener, reader and loved to knit. She ran an independent transcription service from the couple's home for several years, and also kept the books for her husband's motorcycle accessories business. Her home and yard were filled with plants and vegetables, lovingly cultivated. One of her favorite past times was to sit on the deck with her husband and gaze upon the garden. Cheryl is survived by her husband, Jim; her mother; and brothers Arthur, Frank, Daryle and Lyle Howell; and many generations of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; brothers Robert (Buck Jones) and Doyle Howell and a sister and best friend Vaudene Field. An informal celebration of life is planned for a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. (Obituary from the Lincoln Sentinel Republican, Lincoln County, Kansas)
