Ronald Thomas passed February 13, 2007. His friends knew him as "Chief". His family called him "Paucha". He was born in Canada on the Six Nation Reservation. "Chief" was a full blooded Mohawk Native American. He served in the 82nd Airborne. Chief loved Blue Grass music. In the 60's and 70's, he played with the Easter Brothers and played with several groups in the valley and had been active in the early beginning of the Fiddle & Banjo Club. "Chief" retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. Chief was loved and respected by his family and those that knew him. A celebration will be held in honor of "Chief", Sunday, February 18, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1701 Memorial Ave., Roanoke, Va. His wife, Shirley Thomas; three children, Clark Thomas, Cort Thomas and Rhonda Thomas reside in Roanoke.
