Clara Anderson 1911-2002

Clara Marie Anderson, 91, of Bemidji, died Friday, May 31, 2002 at North Country Nursing Rehabilitation Center in Bemidji.
She was born January 21, 1911 in Peterson, Minnesota, the first born to Norwegian immigrants John and Sigrid (Stendalen) Anderson. She went to the Eddy Township Country School, near Clearbrook, through the eighth grade. She then attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. She worked a while doing domestic help in Minneapolis and worked at General Mills for several years. She started working for Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis as a laboratory technician in 1948, and retired with them in June of 1976 after more than 27 years of employment.
She was very active at the First Lutheran Church in Columbia Heights. She taught Sunday school for 35 years, was a parish visitor for nine years, was a past circle chairwoman, member of the deacon board, and the parish prayer chain.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, taking pictures, and being a family historian.
Survivors include her brother, Albert Anderson of Abingdon, Illinois; a sister, Ruth Leister of Bemidji; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Judith Peterson and Phebe Johnson; and two brothers, Oscar Melvin Anderson and Oscar Marvin Anderson.
Funeral services were Monday, June 3 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clearbrook with Rev. Dan Bowman officiating. Interment was at the Silver Creek Cemetery in Clearbrook under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji. Casketbearers were her nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the charity of the donors choice.
