Lary J. Burk, Age 74, of Swartz Creek, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at McLaren - Flint.

Lary was born September 25, 1942 in Flint, the son of Edward J. and Olga E. (Carscallen) Burk. He married Patricia Spillane on October 20, 1962.

Lary retired from General Motors in 2008 where he was a toolmaker for 47 years at the V8 Engine Plant and Flint Engine South. He was also a member of U.A.W. Local 659. Lary enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, flowers and especially the Red Cabin on the Rifle River in Selkirk, MI. He was a devoted son, husband, dad, grandfather, brother and uncle.

Left to cherish his memory are: wife, Patricia of Swartz Creek; daughter, Christina and husband, James Sharp of Kalamazoo; son, James Burk of Swartz Creek; two grandchildren, James Charles and Sarah Elizabeth Sharp; sister, Lynn and husband, Randell Sturgess of Swartz Creek; sister-in-law, Pam and husband, Bill Vredevoogd of Swartz Creek; nephews and nieces, Brian (Deb) Sturgess, Mary Kathryn (Ryan) Turner, and Brad (Sarah) Vredevoogd; great nephews and great nieces, Anthony, Chelsey, Josh, Grace, and Sophie; special cousin, Duane Dickey and all of his family. His parents preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held 2 PM Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Rev. Dr. Gary Glanville officiating. Visitation will be held from 3-8 PM Friday June 16 and 1-2 PM Saturday June 17 at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
