Ernie and Jean were married for 64 years. They were blessed with two sons: Joseph E. and Krist E. Jani.
Ernie and Jean were longtime residents of the Brookline neighborhood in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, then of the Baldwin Borough suburb in the South Hills.
They were members of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in the Mt. Lebanon suburb in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. Ernie was a volunteer for their Greek Food Festivals.
Ernest Jani passed away on Monday, June 14, 2010, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in the Jefferson Hills suburb in the South Hills of Pittsburgh.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, and by his 2 sons: Dr. Joseph E. (Barbara A.) Jani and Krist (Stacy) Jani. He was predeceased by his parents.
Arrangements were by and Visitation was at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Pittsburgh 15227, in the Brentwood suburb on Thursday, June 17, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with a Trisaigon Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continued on Friday, June 18, at 9 a.m. at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 123 Gilkeson Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15228 (Mount Lebanon), until the time of the Funeral Liturgy at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, Memorial Processing Center, 777 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15235.
