Bass Harbor – Thomas Richmond, 72, a resident of Bass Harbor, formerly of Livermore, passed away at his residence surrounded by his family, Saturday, May 20th following health issues due to a debilitating stroke and cancer. He was born December 27, 1944 in Lewiston, the son of Violet (McLaughlin) Richmond. Tom was a 1965 graduate of Livermore Falls High School and attended Mid Maine College in Auburn.

On October 23, 1971 in Livermore Falls, Tom married his wife of 45 years, Doreen “Dolly” Holt of Livermore. They made their home and raised their children in Livermore.

In his teen years, Tom worked at the Somerville Bakery in Massachusetts, and loved baking which many enjoyed. He later worked for over 20 years for International Paper at the Otis Mill on #10 machine and at the Androscoggin Mill in converting on # 4 & 5 in shipping. He also worked as a tax assessor for Patten Appraisals in Portland. Tom became town manager of Greene, Dixfield, Tremont, Steuben and most recently for the town of Carmel until suffering a stroke. He especially loved being a town manager and having the opportunity of interacting with the towns people.

Tom was a very accomplished man, having served as Fire Chief, selectman, and constable for the Town of Livermore, and was Past President and one of the founding fathers for the Community Emergency Service “C.E.S.” Ambulance. Tom also enjoyed doing “One Write Plus” training for computers. He was a member of the Lions Club and Masons. Tom loved going on fishing trips to Labrador and Newfoundland, snowmobiling, flying planes, and photography, but he especially loved time spent with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Dolly Richmond of Bass Harbor, his son, Scott Richmond of Livermore; his daughter, Nancy Richmond of Miami, Florida, his sister, Ann Richmond of Portland, sister-in-law, Donna Richmond of Turner, brother-in-law, Clarence Bryant of Livermore, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
