Dwight Clayton Altman, 67, of Sedan Crabtree Road, Lucasville, Ohio, passed away Friday May 12, 2017, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was born September 3, 1949, in Portsmouth, son of Lillian Crabtree Altman of Lucasville and the late Clifford Altman.
On October 14, 1967, Dwight was united in marriage to Sharon Rose Crabtree Altman who survives. Also surviving are five children, Christopher C. and Nicole Altman of Lucasville, Danial R. and Shannon Altman of Lucasville, Dwight C. and Amy Altman of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Theresa Altman of Hillsboro, Ohio and Samuel and Jamie Altman of Lucasville; 14 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three brothers, Douglas and Connie Altman of Lucasville, Dale and Connie Altman of McDermott, Ohio, Terry and Rita Altman of Lucasville; five sisters, Pamela and Donald Seroney of Rarden, Ohio, Peggy and Kenny Strickland of McDermott, Lorrie and Dennis Crabtree of McDermott, Robin and Ronald Strickland of Lucasville and Susan and Jimmy Lewis of Lucasville. In addition to his father, Dwight was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Dawn Altman.
Dwight was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam Era, a retired Sewer Maintenance Manager for the City of Portsmouth, and a member of Community of Christ Church on Sedan Crabtree Road.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at the Community of Christ Church, with Donnie and Jeanette Ratchford officiating. Burial will follow in the Altman Family Cemetery of Sedan Crabtree Road with military honors conducted by American Legion Wm. A. Baker Post in Lucasville. The family will receive friends at the Botkin Hornback Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Monday and at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the service of Tuesday.
