Doyle Leroy (DL) Barrett On November 3, 2011 our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather as called from this earth to meet his Lord and Savior. Leroy was born on September 12, 1927 to Elmer and Ethel Barrett in Oak Grove, Louisiana. He attended the University of Houston and majored in Chemical Engineering. He worked for Gulf Research and Development for 39 years. At the old Gulf Building in downtown Houston, he met his wife and soul mate, Mary Wall Barrett. Leroy and Mary were married for 62 fun-filled years. Leroy was passionate about wood working, his family, the outdoors, and the Lord. He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, and a son-in-law, Mark Hendon. He is survived by his wife, Mary Barrett, 2 sisters: Bernice Nichols and Doris Marcantel both of Converse, Louisiana, 3 daughters and 2 son -in-laws: Vicki and JD Davis, Becky Hendon, Sherrie and Adam Young, 3 grandsons and their wives: J. Barrett and Kathy Davis, Brad and Molly Davis, and Mark and Jenna Hendon, 5 great- grandchildren: Allison (6), Mia (4), Carson (4), Libby (2), and Dylan (2 months), and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be held Monday, November 7, 2011, 11:00 a.m., at University Heights Baptist Church in Huntsville, Texas, with Rev. Richard Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Brooke Cemetery in Huntsville. Family will receive friends Sunday, November 6, 2011, 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Huntsville, Texas
