John Clay McCullah, 80, of Marquette & formerly of Calumet, passed away on Saturday, January 18th at Marquette General Hospital where he had been a patient for the past three days.
John was born in Wagoner, OK on March 17, 1933 to June (Tinsley) McCullah & John M. McCullah. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Calumet, MI and Alaska.
John enjoyed a good game of cribbage, bowling, reading and spending time with family.
On September 22, 1953, John married the former Holly Jean Anderson. After 40 years of marriage, Holly Jean passed away on April 15, 1994.
In August 1996, John married Marlene Morais of Marquette where he resided for the last 18 years.
John is survived by his children: June (Kent) Pillatsch of Wentzville, MO; Peggy (Tom) Staley of Holly Springs, NC; Gale Makolin of Calumet, MI; Edward McCullah of Sanford, NC; James McCullah of Calumet, MI; Carol (Eric) Makkonen of Houghton, MI; & Kay Elander of Calumet, MI. John is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Faye Rogers of Y-City, AR; and brother-in-law, Earl (Lillian) Anderson of Ishpeming, MI; along with numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.
Preceding John in death were his parents June & John; his first wife, Holly Jean; two sons, David & Robert; brothers, James, Floyd, Lloyd & Wendell; 2 daughters-in-law, Nancy McCullah & Donna McCullah.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday April 28, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Erickson-Crowley-Peterson Funeral Home of Calumet.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10-11 am.
Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
