ROCKLAND – Dorothy I. Small, 97, passed away peacefully at Knox Center for Long Term Care on April 18, 2017, after a period of declining health. She was born in London, England to William and Esther Sykes Sulman. Dorothy met her future husband, Harold “Bud” Small, while he was stationed in Oxford serving with the United States Army Air Corps. They married in 1944 and moved to Rockland in 1946.
Dorothy was a private person; devoted to her family and close friends. She loved to sew, garden, read, and enjoyed the company of all animals and especially her kitties. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.
Predeceased by her husband in 1996, Dorothy is survived by her sons, Gary Small and wife Millie of Alabama, Stephen Small and wife Marisa of Rockland, Craig Small and wife Suzanne Johnson of Brunswick, daughter Deborah Small and husband Bryant Kuby of Belfast; grandchildren Brian Small and wife Angela, Heather Small Lien and husband Scott Lien, Alex Small, Madelyn Small, Grace Small, Nadia Small; and great-grandchildren Olivia Lien, Henry Lien, Adele Small and Cameron Small.
