She was born June 21, 1923, in Vermillion County, the daughter of Edward and Anna (Nicholson) Reiber. She graduated from Clinton High School. Wanda married Herbert Hallett in 1941. He passed away in November 1994. While Mr. Hallett was serving overseas during WWII, Wanda aided in the war effort working in area factories making uniforms and parachutes. She earned her licensed practical nurse certificate in the late 50’s and also worked at Quaker Maid. During much of their married life Wanda and Herbert owned and operated farms in Clay and Vermillion Counties.
She is survived by two sons Ron Hallett of Indianapolis and Preston Leon Hallett and wife Jenell of New York; grandchildren: George Caughlin, Jonathon Caughlin, Joseph Caughlin, Antonio Caughlin, Karen Wetzel Fellers, Eric Wetzel, Tiffany Nowacki, and Michael Hallett; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Anna Reiber, her husband of 53 years Herbert Hallett, her daughter Marsha Lynn Caughlin; and 4 siblings: Christine Kercheval, Moselle Rush, Martin Reiber and Jacob Reiber.
Visitation will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 4-8pm. Services will be at the funeral home, Wednesday, 11:00am. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
