At the age of 22, he entered the United States Army. During his tour of duty he found himself in the following theaters of war: Asiatic-Pacific, Bismark-Archepelago, New Guinea, South Philippines, and Luzon. Chetty was discharged from the Army as a Sergeant after being honored with the following: Good Conduct Metal, Infantry Combat Badge, Asiatic-Pacific w/ 4 Bronze Stars, Phillipine Liberation w/ 2 Bronze Stars, and Bronze Arrowhead.
Chetty was a retired inspector with Hobart Manufacturing in Mt. Sterling, KY.
He was a member of the Lakeview Community Church and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, attending church, sharing stories about the Army and World War II and visiting and talking with family and friends, especially children. He was an avid U.K. Basketball Fan and he loved his cat, Blackie.
