Mary Helen (Marty) Childers Davis went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, April 15, at her Fairview home after fighting a courageous two-year battle with cancer. She was a retired school teacher and business manager for Mickey Davis Custom Homes in Fairview, Texas. Marty was born on August 16, 1946, in Blue Mountain, Miss., the oldest daughter of the late Charles Leroy and Virginia Elizabeth Bennett Childers. She graduated from Falkner High School in 1964 and worked for Foot-Caress Shoe Factory and later for the Tippah County Chancery Clerk's Office until she enrolled at Freed-Hardeman College in Henderson, Tenn. in January 1967. After receiving her Associates Degree in 1968, she enrolled at Harding University in Searcy, Ark., and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education in 1970. She began teaching for Itawamba County Schools in the fall of 1970 and it was in Fulton, Miss. that she met the love of her life, William Michael (Mickey) Davis. They were married at the Ripley Church of Christ on April 4, 1971. Marty and Mickey lived in Fulton for ten years where Marty taught school and Mickey worked for his father's construction business, Doyle Davis Construction. While in Fulton, they welcomed three daughters into their home - Paige, Whitney, and Hilary. In 1982, Marty and Mickey made a difficult decision to relocate to the Dallas area where Mickey established his own construction company, Mickey Davis Custom Homes. Marty continued to teach school in Texas with the Allen Independent School District while also working as business manager for Mickey's company. She retired from teaching in 2001 and began working full time with Mickey. Marty was born into a Christian family and her faith in God never wavered throughout her entire life. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ and she and Mickey were faithful members of the McDermott Road Church of Christ. Her faith carried over to her classroom where she is now fondly remembered and admired by the teachers she worked with and by literally hundreds of former students who "loved Mrs. Davis" second grade class.

Marty is survived by Mickey, her husband of 46 years and three daughters, Paige McDonald (Bart), from Anna, Texas, and Whitney Hansen (Chris) and Hilary Williams (Daniel), both of Allen, Texas. She was both the proud and loving grandmother to nine grandchildren, Luke and Lily McDonald, Sam, Ben, and John Hanson, Charlie, Katie, Lucy, and Claire Williams. She also leaves one sister, Lois Childers Moss (John) of Huntsville, Ala., and two brothers: Thomas Lee (Tom) Childers (Carole) of Henderson, Tenn., and Charles David (Dave) Childers (Karen) of Fayetteville, Georgia. She is also survived by a step-sister, Deanne Green Mears of Fort Worth, TX and a step-brother, Freddy Green of Baldwyn, MS.

Pallbearers were David Childers, Tom Childers, Chris Hanson, Bart McDonald, Luke McDonald, Willy Rushing, Daniel Williams, and Dan Williams.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 20, 2017, at McDermott Road Church of Christ in Plano, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.
