She was preceded in death by her husband Lt. Col. Edwin W. Allen, Jr., and by her brothers Sidney Gunter and Edwin Gunter.
Survived by her son, her daughter, a granddaughter, a grandson,
and five great grandchildren.
She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist church.
She met Ed in Birmingham, Alabama and married shortly thereafter at Clio Baptist Church in Clio, S.C.
In part due to being a military spouse, Kathryn had the opportunity to live in Birmingham, AL; Ft. Jackson, SC; Ft. Benning, GA; Anchorage, AK; Wadesboro, NC; Ft. Leavenworth, KS, Falls Church, VA, Tokyo, Japan, Clio, SC; and Orlando, FL.
During her life she played the accordion at The Alabama Theatre, proofread articles for Progressive Farmer Magazine, and worked as a teacher's aide. She enjoyed travel, was an excellent seamstress, had a passion for singing and sang in various church choirs for most of her life.
