John Henry was a member of Faith & Prayer Pentecostal Church. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1977, where he resided for 44 years.
He was the owner and operator of Whitener’s Fine Design, specializing in painting murals and decorative walls and ceilings.
In addition to his parents, John Henry was preceded in death by his sister, Valorie Ellison.
John is survived by a daughter, Melinda A. Riley of Elkhart; one brother, Lester Ellison; uncle and aunt Roy (Kathy) Davis; aunt and uncle Delores and Luther Jackson; cousins Kerry Jackson and Karen (Dwight) Davis-Macon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
John Henry’s Indiana celebration of life will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at the Tolson Center, 1320 Benham Ave., Elkhart
