He was born in Elkhart County, Feb. 11, 1947, a son of Harold and Virginia (Holaway) Weldy.
Henry graduated from Penn High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969.
On April 27, 1985, he married Judy Stroup in St. Joseph County, Michigan.
He was employed as a plumber in the RV industry, retiring from Marathon Homes/Elkhart, after 30 years of employment.
Henry was a member of the Constantine American Legion.
He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Surviving are his wife, Judy Weldy of White Pigeon, Michigan; daughters Maryellen Flores of South Bend and Shelly (Eric) Jackson of Jones, Michigan; son Henry Jay Weldy II of New Castle; mother Virginia Weldy Skiles of Wakarusa; eight grandchildren, David Alvarez, Rico Alvarez, Marie Alvarez, Brianna Weldy, Alexis Weldy, Miranda Weldy, Austin Weldy and Caden Jackson; and many great-grandchildren; sisters Sara (Michael) Reynolds of Wakarusa, Susan (David) Weaver of Gulfport, Mississippi; and brothers Daniel Weldy of Nappanee, Indiana and Michael (Cindy) Weldy of Wakarusa.
He was preceded in death by his father, sister Sherry Meyers and granddaughter Jasmine Alvarez.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will take place at a later date.
