Henry was a Civil War Veteran, having served as a private in Company A, 11th Michigan Infantry. He enlisted on August 24, 1861 at Centreville, Michigan. In September 1863 he was taken prisoner. In October 1863 thru June 1864 he is still listed as a prisoner. By July 1864 he is now listed as "escaped prisoner, on furlough". Henry mustered out on September 30, 1864 at Sturgis, Michigan, having completed his term of enlistment.
