He was born September 14, 1937 in Onego, WV and was a son of the late Charles Davis and Martha (Long) Davis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hannah “Sally” Davis, who also died this month on March 4, 2017 and an infant grandson, Jeremiah Rohrbaugh.
George retired from the United States Forest Service. He worked as a mechanic with his son, Ted Davis Auto Sales for 15 years. He was a hard worker and loved his family dearly. He loved music, including gospel, bluegrass and country. He had a love for NASCAR and antique cars. He was known by his smile and will be missed by all who knew him. He also loved Keno “scratch offs” and usually won something.
George is survived by one son, Ted (Anita) Davis of Riverton, WV; four daughters, Teresa (Donnie) Berg of Moorefield, WV, Becky Funkhouser of Moorefield, WV, Brenda Davis of Petersburg, WV and Frances (Shawn) Rohrbaugh of Maysville, WV; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two sisters, Sylvia Mallow of Red Creek, WV and Irene Davis of Cabins, WV; two half-sisters, Mary Kisamore of Onego, WV and Ruby Teter of Franklin, WV; one-half brother, Jerry Barkley of Onego, WV and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Daryl Dunsmore officiating. Interment will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, WV.
