Minnie was a fun-loving woman, she loved to dance, garden, and was the oldest living member in her local fire hall. She was a great mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to her family. She is greatly missed.

Minnie J. Sum, 93, of Middlesex Township, Valencia, died Monday morning, Feb. 6, 2017, at the home of her daughter in Hollidaysburg.

Born July 9, 1923, in Birdville, Pa., now Natrona Heights, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Laura Rhodes Baker Bash.

Minnie and her late husband, Daniel, had been dairy farmers and owned Hidden Valley Farm Dairy, and she had been a custodian at Pine-Richland Middle School. She was a member of Glade Run United Presbyterian Church in Middlesex Township and was a lifetime member of the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Company. She loved to dance.

Surviving are a daughter, Gloria Hickox and her husband, Randall, of Hollidaysburg; a son, Daniel Sum Jr., of Valencia; her grandchildren, Amber, Jessica, Kenneth, Daniel, Lauren and Kelly; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Violet Hunter, of Cheswick, Connie Hoak, of Brackenridge, and Mary Sager and her husband, George, of Homer City; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel A. Sum, who she married Dec. 15, 1944; a daughter-in-law, Holly Sum; by a sister, Margaret Love; and four brothers, Chester Gibson, George John Andrew "Andy" Bash Jr., Martin "Bud" Bash and Thomas Bash (Elaine).

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the McDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME INC., 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia, PA 16059, with the Rev. Greg Wiest, pastor, officiating. Please meet at the church. Burial will be in Plum Creek Cemetery, Plum Borough.

Memorials may be made to the church.
