James V. (Jim) Adams Jr., 77 years of age died Tuesday March 14, 2017 with his family at his side. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother and teacher. His patience and gentle kindness was a living lesson to all who knew him. He taught for 47 years at New Albany High School until his retirement in 2011. He was a former beekeeper, served in the U.S. Army Reserve for many years and was a member of Central Christian Church in New Albany. Jim will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family, fellow teachers and many students throughout the years.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Melva (Oates) Adams; children James V. Adams III, Leigh Anne Adams McKown (Jamie) and Brad Adams (Lisa Peightal Adams); sibling; Jane Adams Lang (Dale), Ann Adams Graham (Randy), David Adams (Kay Lou), Dan Adams (Donna) and Allen Adams (Rosetta); grandchildren Emily, James, Lily, Adam and Meghan; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Friday March 17, 2017 and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday March 18, in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel. Private entombment will be in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
