A native of Chicago, Illinois, she was the mother of actress Angelina Jolie, and the wife of actor Jon Voight (1971 to 1978). A sometime actress, Bertrand appeared in a 1971 episode of the Raymond Burr television series, "Ironside", entitled, "Love, Peace, Brotherhood and Murder", and the films, "Lookin' To Get Out" (1982), and "The Man Who Loved Women" (1983). In 2005, Bertrand was also executive producer for a film called, "Trudell." She died from cancer at the Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, at the age of 56.
