Kenneth will be remembered for his gentle spirit, love of family and passion for nature. He took great pride in keeping many yards well cut and beautifully landscaped, Kenneth took special pleasure in maintaining various little flower patches and home gardens that always yielded the most colorful flowers and freshest vegetables, not for himself, but for all to enjoy.
Kenneth's proudest moments were in working hard to always take care of his family and by passing down his knowledge of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren. His happiest moments came from camping trips with his son's Barry and John, and taking Collin and Bryce to Kanawha State Forest to walk the trails, catch crawdads and picnic. Whether cooking hotdogs over a campfire at Watoga state park, trout fishing in Hominy Creek or hiking untold mountains and valleys while harvesting Ginseng and Yellow Root, Kenneth always wore a smile and always made new friends wherever he roamed.
A man of humble beginnings and a simple but fulfilling life, Kenneth's spirit will forever reside in the reflections of West Virginia's lakes and streams and the serene mountain tops and hollers that were his earthly home.
Kenneth was born in Poca, WV on April 16, 1936 to Harold and Nell Sue Christy Baldwin. Shortly after his graduation from Winfield High School in 1956, he joined the Army and was stationed in Korea. He worked at Monsanto Chemical Company from 1959-1994.
Kenneth and Alice Vickers were married April 14, 1962 and made their home in St. Albans. A home that was always open to their son's friends.
He is survived by his devoted family: Alice, Barry and Connie Baldwin and John Baldwin the grandsons, whom he loved so much, Collin and Bryce Baldwin. Brother Stanley Baldwin, sisters Carolyn and Nancy Baldwin. Other family members who will mourn his passing are Glen, Connie, Sam and Shannon Godby, Timothy and Sherry Godby, Gregory, Kim, Ryan, and Megan Godby, and Jean Ann Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill Baldwin and sister Mary Sue DuBuis.
Kenneth was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church, St. Albans. He enjoyed coaching basketball for Central School when his sons played. He liked to clog, visit with folks at the Nitro Senior Center and sharing his tomatoes with family and friends and the homeless shelter.
He will be dearly missed and always remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, uncle and friend. Kenneth was 70 years old.
