Kathy Lynn Nations Wood, 61, of El Dorado, entered heaven’s gates surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House.

Kathy was born on July 10, 1955 in Magnolia, to Andrea “Andy” Colvin Nations Strange and the late James Lyndol Nations. She graduated from Emerson High School in Emerson. Kathy was known for her attention to detail and this skill served her well in her life and careers at Pittman’s Nursery and Lee’s Trucking. She was a member of Mount Union Baptist Church.

One of Kathy’s passions in life was traveling and experiencing the world around her with her family and friends. From fishing at Lake Chicot to numerous beach trips taken with family, more concerts than can be remembered, using her “luck” and becoming a world traveler with her husband, Kathy never had a slow-paced day in her life. Kathy was creative, nature loving and a master planner. Kathy will always be remembered for her amazing chocolate covered strawberries, divinity, and millionaire candy. She dedicated her life to her family and will be remembered for her caring and nurturing nature. Kathy passed away peacefully after her brave battle with cancer. She will be remembered as a loving wife and “Nana,” devoted supporter of family, and a dynamic and giving person to those that had the honor of knowing her.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father, James Nations; her step-father, William Strange; her paternal grandparents, Andrew F. and Floss Colvin; her maternal grandparents, Levi and Myrtle Nations; and her great-granddaughter, Vivian Kate Latino.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 34 years, David Wood; their children, Terri McElroy and her husband, Randy, of Sachse, Texas and Tony Wood and his wife, Shannon, of El Dorado; her mother, Andrea “Andy” Colvin Nations Strange of Strong; her grandchildren, Josh Wood (Brittany) of Strong, Lindsey Courtemanche (Jon) of Sachse, Texas, Kristen Latino (Osman) of El Dorado, Hannah Wood of Little Rock, Jared (McKenzie) Wood of Memphis, Tennesse, Ashton (Lexie) Drummond of El Dorado, Drew Drummond of Little Rock, and Austin Drummond of El Dorado; and by their great-grandchildren, whom her world revolved around, Brody and Briggs Wood, Brayden and Gabriella Latino, Anastasia Courtemanche, and Grayson Drummond. She is also survived by her sister, Paula Nations Medlin and her husband, Bubba, of Strong; many nieces and nephews; along with special friends, Sherwood and Frances Thurlkill.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Mount Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Sheets and the Rev. Leroy Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Muse, Daniel Wood, Mason Wood, Jonathan Wood, Brandon Fulco, Ryan Chandler, Ashton Drummond, and Drew Drummond, along with honorary pallbearer, Vince Medlin.
